NEXIQ Technologies Inc. Sterling Heights, Mich., announced it has cut 20 more jobs in a drive to reduce expenses. This is the second round of layoffs for NEXIQ, which let 26 people go on Sept. 9.
According to the company, the combined layoffs amount to a 35% workforce reduction. According to the announcement, cuts included production, engineering, sales and administrative areas. NEXIQ said it continues to evaluate additional cost-savings measures.
NEXIQ provides advanced diagnostics and telematics products, solutions and services for the automotive and commercial vehicle markets.
The latest cutbacks follow the resignation last month of John R. Allard as CEO. Allard remains in a non-executive position on NEXIQ?s board of directors.
NEXIQ is a relatively new name for the company that markets Pro-Link hand-held diagnostic tools among other fleet technology products. Pro-Link products were introduced by MPSI (Micro Processor Systems Inc.) and are still distributed by NEXIQ. Last year, NEXIQ introduced eTechnician, an ambitious remote vehicle monitoring, remote diagnostics and reprogramming system. Earlier this year, the company crossed into the logistics arena with ePod, a pickup and delivery software system designed for private fleet operations.
