Mike Ryan kept a stranglehold on his Big Rig title as he maneuvered his truck up Pikes Peak and came out a winner in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb July 4.

Ryan and his Freightliner Century Class ST crossed the finish line in a classification record time of 13.39.02, breaking his own record from last year. Bruce Canepa, who drove CFI’s Red Racer, a 1999 Kenworth T2000, placed second with 14:34.41, while New Zealand driver Shane Chapman finished third at 14:35.09 in his 2000 Sterling A113.
The internationally renowned Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Race is held every year on the Fourth of July. All makes and models of cars, trucks and cycles compete to reach the finish line at the top of the famous peak at 14,100 feet.
