A proposal for a truck terminal along the West Allis-West Milwaukee, Wis., border is at odds with redevelopment plans previously drafted for the site by the two districts involved.

USF Holland, Holland, Mich., has proposed a $5.5 million, 120-bay terminal on a 32-acre piece of land along Electric Avenue in Milwaukee, but community planners want to build a multi-company business park on the property, according to a recent article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The West Allis-West Milwaukee plan calls for the two communities to buy the land through condemnation, make it environmentally sound, and sell portions of the property to up to nine new companies to create a total of nearly 700 new jobs and more than $900,000 a year on property taxes.
USF Holland’s new terminal would cover the entire 32 acres and produce about $240,000 a year in additional property taxes. The trucking company is maintaining that the financial benefits from their plan will come to the community more quickly than the districts’ plan.
