The U.S. Department of Transportation's Research and Special Programs Div. has reversed its ban on placards mounted low on the rear of a trailer.
According to the American Trucking Associations, which met with RSPA officials regarding this matter, hazmat placards may be placed at a level below the trailer floor and behind the rear underride guard as long as they're not obscured.
