The award recognizes the top-performing Kenworth dealership that has excelled in many areas, including customer service and sales. It was the second time the dealership has won the award, also winning top honors in 1986. It is the seventh time the dealership has won the Southeast Regional award.
"Our success is based on a corporate group that works hand-in-hand with our dealerships," said Truck Enterprises-Harrisonburg president Jim Hartman. "We have a committed leadership team, plus employees that have a partnership mentality with our customers. In a smaller market such as ours, we cater to small fleets and owner operators. There's a great work ethic here, and salespeople are expected to have integrity. We do that and it has led to a great deal of repeat and referral business to our dealership. Relationships sell trucks."
A Kenworth dealership since 1961, Truck Enterprises-Harrisonburg employs more than 100 people and is the oldest dealership location for Truck Enterprises, which operates seven locations in Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland.
Also announced at the meeting were Kenworth's Regional Dealers of the Year for 1998. Winners were: Canada: Kenworth Montreal; Central: Midwest Kenworth, Kansas City, MO; Northeast: Kenworth of Cincinnati; and West: Motor Power Equipment; Billings, MT.
