The American Trucking Association’s Technology & Maintenance Council has transformed its 2020 Fall Meeting into a virtual event, taking place online Sept. 14-17. The event theme, “Reliable Answers for Uncertain Times,” will focus on how the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the adoption of certain technologies, changing the way fleets operate.

As a result of the new event format, the National Technician Skills Competitions, TMCSuperTech, and National Student Technician Competition, TMCFutureTech, have been cancelled.

“TMC/ATA did not make this decision lightly, but based on member input regarding the current COVID-19 crisis — and especially given the ‘ramp-up’ that is anticipated as the nation’s economy begins returning to normal operations in the coming months — TMC believes this action is necessary,” wrote ATA in a recent statement.

Although the technician competitions were cancelled, TMC and ATA will still launch the inaugural National Technician Appreciation Week, Sept. 21-25, following the 2020 Fall Meeting.
