Penske Logistics has signed an agreement to acquire Greensboro, N.C.-based Epes Transport System.

Penske said it views the acquisition as a growth opportunity that will enhance the company’s existing portfolio of dedicated transportation and logistics solutions. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition was announced to Epes employees in late May and the agreement was made public in late June. Penske plans to maintain Epes' current leadership team.

Epes Transport is a regional truckload carrier that was started in 1931 and is one of the largest private trucking companies in North Carolina, according to the company. Penske Logsistics is a subsidiary of Penske Truck Leasing with operations in North and South America, Europe, and Asia, offering supply chain management and logistics services.
