An extended productivity suite for the Android operating system was introduced by Omnitracs at TMW’s Transforum 2013 User Conference in Anaheim Monday.

The suite includes a new point of delivery application and supports activities that take place outside of the truck cab using a smart device such as signature capture, barcode scanning and document imaging.

Supported by Omnitracs mobile computing platforms MCP 110 and MCP 200, the proof of delivery application automatically syncs with the MCP unit inside the cab to transmit data via the same service plan. The application shows how the combination of an integrated in-cab unit and portable device can increase productivity and efficiency for fleets whose drivers perform various tasks outside the vehicle.

The proof of delivery application also offers optional add-ons such as document imaging, returns & pickups, barcode scanning and photo capture to automatically capture additional information on deliveries or pickups.

Omnitracs Android application was designed in collaboration with Blue Dot Solutions, a provider of workforce management solutions.

“This extends the fleet management system outside the cab,” said Norm Ellis, vice president sales and marketing, Omnitracs.
