This line specifically targets platform engines from 2007 to now, and has been successfully tested on select fleets in the past three years. The core utilizes a wavy-style fin, with built-in bar and plate configuration. The wavy style fin is the same for both KCP radiators and a/c condensers. The fins have increased surface area that allow for greater cooling capacity and reduced clogging due to debris.
KCP claims the all-aluminum configuration has several advantages over plastic tank or copper/brass replacement including allowance for higher operating temperatures, better resistance to thermal stress, and vibration and shock absorption.
"Plastic tanks are intended for automotive applications, not heavy duty trucks," says Kustom Cooling CEO Harold Bettencourt. "When the typical fleet is replacing these items every 100,000 to 150,000 miles and the only aftermarket option is copper/brass, there is a huge void KCP is happy to fill."
