The Temper EMT (Endplay Measuring Tool) mounts over the lug nuts with the wheels and tires still on the vehicle, or just with the bare hub. Readings are accurate to within one-half of one thousandth of an inch with the standard digital indicator. Axle spindle adapters allow the EMT to be used to measure endplay on steer, drive and trailer axles.

The Temper EMT builds upon the bearing adjustment process in the Technology and Maintenance Council's Recommended Practice RP618. Once a target bearing endplay measurement is set, the EMT is mounted on the wheel-end and a measurement is taken by simply pushing and pulling on the handle of the device. If the setting requires adjustment, Temper provides a special wrench to turn the locking nut in the proper direction to either tighten or loosen the bearings while the EMT remains mounted on the wheel. The bearing endplay is measured again, and the process is repeated until the desired setting is achieved.

Temper's EMT rounds out the company's line of bearing adjustment products, which includes Doctor Preload bearing adjustment tool and Temper-Loc premium single nut spindle lock nuts.

"In 2010, Temper introduced the most accurate and quickest way to adjust wheel end bearings with Doctor Preload," explained John E. Rode, CEO of Temper and the Inventor of the EMT. "Now, we are addressing the need for safety assurance and efficiency with endplay adjusted wheels."
