Alliance Autogas has gained approval from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to produce bi-fuel propane-autogas versions of vehicles powered by Ford's 6.8L V-10 and General Motors' 6.0L V-8 spark-ignited engines through its equipment developer Blossman Services, Inc.
These engines are typically found in work trucks, shuttle buses, school buses, street sweepers, and strip chassis. Popular vehicle models with these engines include the Isuzu NPR, Ford F-450, F-550, F-650, Chevrolet Express van, Workhorse step van, and Freightliner Custom Chassis vehicles. Depending on the engine certification, model year coverage ranges from 2010 up to 2016.
"Conversion costs nearly half the cost of diesel options on these platforms," said Ed Hoffman, president of Blossman Services. "Our bi-fuel propane autogas solution can be retrofitted into in use vehicles or converted prior to in-service through our installation network."
