Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems will construct a new headquarters in Northeast Ohio, the company announced. The headquarters is expected to be within 20 miles of the current location in Elyria, Ohio.

A date for groundbreaking has not been finalized and is contingent on approvals from state and local entities.  The company will continue to operate from the Elyria location until construction on the new facilities is complete.

The new headquarters is being built to accommodate the growth Bendix has experience in the past 12 years as the company has outgrown its current location. Bendix established the Elyria headquarters in 1941 when the company was known as Bendix-Westinghouse.

The Elyria headquarters houses 500 of the company’s more than 2,800 employees, overseeing the company’s research, development, engineering, testing, sales and marketing.

“We are grateful for our time in Elyria and for the support and cooperation we have received from the community over our many decades here,” said Joe McAleese, Bendix chairman. “The move will enable us to further expand our business and sustain our ability to develop solutions to meet the needs of the commercial vehicle industry.”
