“Embarrassing” and “humbling” is how embattled Pilot Flying J CEO Jimmy Haslam described the past few months since federal agents served a series of search warrants against the company, as part of an investigation into allegations of cheating trucking companies out of rebates.

Appearing Monday morning before reporters at the company’s Knoxville headquarters, Haslam said he is confident the company will emerge from the investigation “even stronger” and pledged “to make right 100% any errors we discover.”

During the little more than 10-minute appearance, Haslam did not take questions from reporters, but rather used the opportunity to update the public about what has happened at the company since mid-April.

Since the raid, seven people have pled guilty for their involvement in the alleged scandal, with around two-dozen trucking companies filing suit against filing Pilot Flying J. A settlement has been reached between Pilot Flying J and many of the companies, though some say they want no part of it. A fairness hearing over the settlement is set for November.
