The national average for DEF tote refill prices dropped six cents to $1.91 per gallon in the U.S. during the month of August 2013 compared with the previous month. In Canada prices followed the same trend and decreased by two cents to CAD$ 0.57 per liter in the same period.
DEF truck stop prices have remained stable at $2.79 per gallon in the U.S. since November 2012 and at CAD$ 0.80 per liter in Canada since October 2011. Out of thirty-three new pumps distributing bulk DEF in the region, thirteen are located in Canada.
Salt Lake City, Utah, posted the highest average price for tote refills while Cincinnati, OH and Atlanta, GA registered the lowest average prices amongst all areas covered.
Recent Class 8 trade volumes have been lower than predicted, which means pricing has been more stable than expected for used trucks, according to J.D. Power & Associates.
