YRC Inc. has introduced YRC Residential Solutions, a home and work delivery service
, as part of a strategic partnership with STI, a residential delivery specialist. Through the new service, YRC will pick up large shipments for delivery to one of 162 STI locations. STI handles the "final mile" of the delivery.
"In the past, residential deliveries of large shipments, such as exercise equipment, furniture and flat screen televisions, have posed a host of challenges for retailers due to the specialized expertise, personnel and equipment required," said Mike Smid, president of YRC Inc. and chief operating officer at YRC Worldwide.
The new offering also enables customers to customize the solution based on a shipment's requirements. They can choose standard threshold delivery, which involves delivery to a driveway, curbside, front step, front door or inside garage with two delivery personnel. Another option is premier inside delivery, which involves two personnel to help with inside delivery to a room and includes 30 minutes for setup. The third option, premier plus inside delivery, involves all the same services but includes additional time and personnel.
