West Side Transport, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, will begin taking delivery of 400 new Freightliner 2002 Columbia tractors beginning in January.
"Everyone reads the releases about how many companies have shut their doors and how many more are considering it," says West Side President Don Vogt. "We're very fortunate at West Side to have put ourselves in a position where we are able to provide our drivers the latest and best equipment," noting that Freightliner calls the Columbia "the traditional truck for the 21st century."
Vogt credited West Side employees, especially its drivers, for the company's success.
West Side Transport is an over-the-road, dry van trucking company. Its current fleet of about 550 units is made up primarily of Freightliner Century Class and Classic XL trucks.
