Waste Management Adds CNG Trucks, Fueling Station in Pa.
Waste Management’s Grand Central Hauling Co. subsidiary has launched 30 compressed natural gas (CNG) collection trucks, along with a public-access CNG fueling station, in Plainfield Township, Pa., the company announced.

Waste Management’s Grand Central Hauling Co. subsidiary has launched 30 compressed natural gas (CNG) collection trucks, along with a public-access CNG fueling station, in Plainfield Township, Pa., the company announced.
The state Department of Community & Economic Development provided $806,000 in grant funding to support garage modifications and the construction of the CNG fleet and public fueling facilities, according to Waste Management. The state Department of Environmental Protection provided two grants worth a total of $741,000 to support the purchase of the CNG trucks at Grand Central and other locations where the company is operating CNG trucks in Pennsylvania.
Development of the fleet and public fueling facilities and modifications to Grand Central’s garage totaled more than $3.2 million, and the purchase of the 30 CNG trucks at Grand Central was worth in excess of $10 million, Waste Management said.
Waste Management operates over 4,100 heavy-duty natural gas trucks nationwide and has the largest CNG waste collection fleet in North America, according to the company.
