Volvo Trucks North America is partnering with the Center for Pet Safety to promote safer and more comfortable travel for commercial drivers who bring pets on the road.
Many professional drivers travel with their pets for companionship during long hauls. The new collaboration aims to provide information and resources to help drivers ensure their pets’ safety and comfort while on the job.

“For many long-haul drivers, their dog is their constant companion through every mile,” said Maddie Sullivan, product marketing manager, Volvo Trucks North America, in a news release.
“Safety is part of everything we design, and that extends to the people — and pets — sharing the road with us.”
Testing the New Volvo VNL
As part of the initiative, experts from the Center for Pet Safety will visit the Volvo Customer Center in Dublin, Virginia, to review the new Volvo VNL long-haul model. Pet safety specialists will evaluate cab layouts, driver comfort, and climate-control systems to understand how the truck’s environment supports pets during travel.

The evaluation will include features such as the Volvo Parking Cooler and connected app capabilities that allow drivers to remotely monitor and adjust in-cab temperatures. These tools help maintain safe conditions for animals that may stay in the cab during short breaks in varying weather conditions.
“We’re pleased to collaborate with Volvo Trucks to focus on the needs of drivers traveling with pets,” said Lindsey Wolko, founder and CEO of the Center for Pet Safety. “Together, we can help drivers make informed decisions about pet travel safety and comfort.”
