USF Bestway Inc., an operating subsidiary of USF Corp., has opened two new terminals in Southern California.

The Scottdale, Ariz.-based provider of LTL (less-than-truckload) transportation services opened the doors of its new terminal in Orange County on July 11, while the new San Fernando Valley facility officially began operations on Sept. 15.
USF Bestway now owns both terminals, while the previous terminals in Tustin and Oxnard were leased facilities with less capacity.
"We made these major investments in our California terminal infrastructure to improve service to our valued customers," said Gary Beggs, USF Bestway president and CEO. "By increasing our door and dock capacity, as well as relocating to sites closer to our customers, we can be more productive and cost-effective while providing significantly better service levels."
The new Orange County terminal increases door capacity by 78% and dock capacity by 163%. The facility was completely renovated and a two-bay shop is currently under construction. The terminal is more centrally located in relation to USF Bestway's customer base, significantly reducing travel time and costs from terminal to customer.
The San Fernando Valley terminal positions USF Bestway nearly one hour closer in driving time to the highest concentration of customers and industrial/distribution development in the Valley area. This 27-door facility underwent major renovation including structure remodeling, lot expansion and renovation, and installation of state-of-the-art security for employees, visitors and on-site carrier and customer assets.
