Canadian-based Trimac Transportation has purchased North Carolina-based bulk hauler Feldspar Trucking Co.

Founded in 1967 as Norris Trucking, Feldspar Trucking has grown into a 70-truck company specializing in the bulk transportation of feldspar, sand, clay and minerals used in the ceramics and glass industries.

Trimac President and CEO Matt Faure said the move will allow Trimac to further enhance its bulk transportation services and customer service offerings and expand its geographic reach. Trimac said it aims to solidify its position as a dominant carrier servicing the growing mining industry in the region.

“As a family-owned company deeply rooted in our values of integrity and service, joining forces with Trimac marks an exciting chapter in our journey,” said Jim Norris of Feldspar Trucking.

“This partnership not only ensures the continued growth and success of Feldspar Trucking but also opens doors to new opportunities and expanded horizons for our team and clients alike.”

Trimac Transportation was founded in 1945 as a small family trucking company based in Saskatchewan and now has more than 100 locations in North America.

Last year, Trimac acquired four bulk carriers, including Tennessee-based liquid and dry bulk carrier Doyle Sims & Sons Trucking.

Another major fleet increasing its reach with bulk-carrier acquisitions is Kenan Advantage Group, which last month purchased Northern Dry Bulk Inc.
