Six Carriers Agree to Settle Pilot Flying J CEO Fraud Suit
Six of the seven trucking companies suing Pilot Flying J CEO Jimmy Haslam for fraud have agreed to settle, according to reports from a Cleveland-based ABC news affiliate.
Six of the seven trucking companies suing Pilot Flying J CEO Jimmy Haslam for fraud have agreed to settle, according to reports posted by a Cleveland-based ABC news affiliate. The companies had alleged that the truckstop chain did not follow through on promised fuel rebates.
Attorneys for National Retail Transportation, Keystone Freight, Shoreline Transportation, Osborn Transportation, FST Express, and HB Logistics have notified a federal judge they intend to drop lawsuits against Haslam pending settlements.
Only Wright Transportation has not yet agreed to or indicated it would accept a settlement.
Details of the settlement have not yet been released but the Judge in the case ordered that it be finalized by April 10th or the parties could restore the lawsuit.
A federal criminal probe will continue despite the settlement, It has been reported that at least 10 former Pilot Flying J employees have pleaded guilty and are cooperating with the investigation. This after a $92 million settlement was struck last September with federal prosecutors to avoid criminal prosecution for the company. The deal did not, however, protect individuals from prosecution.
No charges have been filed against Haslam, who has maintained his innocence and claimed he was unaware of the alleged scheme.
