With the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s International Roadcheck inspection event only a few weeks away, several companies are making special offers to truckers and fleets to help prepare.

This year’s International Roadcheck takes place from June 4-6 across North America and will focus on steering components and suspension systems to emphasize their role in highway safety.  During the event CVSA-certified inspectors will primarily conduct Level 1 North American Standard Inspections – a 37-step procedure that includes an examination of driver operating requirements and vehicle mechanical fitness.

In preparation, several trucking-focused companies will be providing training, equipment and inspections and other helpful measures to get trucks ready for the event.

Members of the Goodyear Commercial Tire & Service Network are offering tire inspections and other tire management services. Tire and wheel issues accounted for 19.1% of all out-of-service violations identified during last year’s Roadcheck event.

In addition to helping fleets and owner-operators avoid out-of-service violations, proper inflation pressure maintenance can improve tire mileage and fuel efficiency. Tread depth checks can help ensure that tires comply with federal regulations and are wearing evenly, according to Goodyear.

Driver retention company Stay Metrics is teaming up with Luma Learning to offer free training for the 72-hour inspection blitz. The training, called Roadcheck 2019 eNugget, is available online all of May and June. It is optimized for desktops and mobile devices and no login or registration is required.

“For the third consecutive year, we are pleased to offer complimentary training for the transportation industry to prepare for CVSA Roadcheck,” said Tim Hindes, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Stay Metrics. “We encourage everyone to use and to share this valuable resource to learn and retain essential safety and compliance information.”

Love’s is offering free TirePass inspections and half-priced Department of Transportation inspections from May 27 through June 6 at Love’s Truck Tire Care and SpeedCo locations.

Love’s TirePass is an in-lane tire inflation and assessment service, available on the inside diesel lane at Love’s Travel Stops across the country. Using Love’s TirePass ensures any potential tire-related compliance violations are identified and properly addressed before professional drivers roll up to an inspection.

J.J. Keller & Associates has published the 2019 Roadside Inspection E-Book, offering a free, condensed and interactive version of the guide. The E-Book goes beyond basic inspection preparation to include specific guidance for eliminating violations, including ELD and AOBRD documentation, display and transfer requirements. The resource also includes role play exercises, checklists, cab cards and a quiz to help drivers retain the knowledge they’ll need to complete a successful inspection.

Kinedyne is again offering a webinar, free training and other support to during International Cargo Securement Awareness Month to help fleets prepare for Roadcheck 2019.

Kinedyne is offering a free cargo securement regulation training webinar from on May 28, 2019. The webinar, titled "A Survivor's Guide for Cargo Securement Inspections During International Roadcheck 2019," will follow Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations. The webinar offers a comprehensive instructional presentation on FMCSA regulations and how they will impact International Roadcheck conformity.

Kinedyne’s free Cargo Securement Regulation Training Program is being offered to qualified trailer OEMs, dealerships, fleets and owner-operators as a public safety contribution to the industry. As part of the program, Kinedyne provides on-site instruction and will bring its expert staff and training tools directly to participants located anywhere in the United States and Canada.

Pilot Flying J is offering free mid-trip inspections through its Pilot Flying J Truck Care program through June 7. Mid-trip inspections are heavily focused on checking the tires and brakes of trucks, and also include the inspection of windshields, exhaust, lights and more. The three most common failed items are tires, brakes and lights. Performing proper inspections on each of these will help reduce the chances of receiving a violation.

“During the 72-hour CVSA Roadcheck event, commercial drivers should be prepared for the CVSA-certified inspectors to put a special emphasis on steering components and suspension systems this year, but should also be prepared for a thorough inspection of their vehicle,” said Dave Latimer, Vice President of Shops Strategy and Operations for Pilot Flying J Truck Care. “From now through June 7, Pilot Flying J Truck Care will be offering free mid-trip inspections in the hope we help more professional drivers pass the checks and get back on the road as quickly as possible. Our goal is to work with our drivers ahead of time to ensure they are provided the preparation tips necessary to meet the check requirements, especially as it relates to steering and suspension.”
