Port drivers for LHB Trucking, a carrier for Hyundai Shipping, Friday began a protest to bring attention to the high cost of fuel, low rates, unpaid hours and company deductions from their pay.

According to the Teamstsers union, the drivers plan to continue their demonstration until the company recognizes its committee of drivers, guarantees a fuel surcharge and increases drivers' rates.
"All the drivers are out," said Ed Burke, Port Division West Coast Coordinator for the union. "They refuse to provide their services until LHB Trucking honors their demand to sit down and address their problems. It is high time the trucking companies and steamship lines face reality. They've mistreated port drivers long enough. And [drivers] won't take it any more."
Friday's action follows a series of demonstrations by port drivers in the past couple of months, including several by drivers at the Los Angeles/Long Beach ports.
