Oregon-based carriers USF Reddaway and May Trucking Co. have signed on with the state's Green Light program and have qualified for ODOT’s Trusted Carrier Partner program.
Portland-based Reddaway has equipped 500 of its power units with Green Light transponders, while Salem-based May Trucking Co. has equipped 570 power units with the transponders. Designed to allow trucks to identify themselves and weigh using sensors and scales in the highway, the transponders allow equipped trucks to go past a weigh station at normal cruising speed rather than pulling off the highway to weigh at static scales.
A Green Light carrier earns the Trusted Carrier Partner status by passing a rigorous safety and compliance check and by having an exemplary safety record.
