OEMs Partner with PeopleNet and Omnitracs
PeopleNet and Omnitracs recently announced exclusive deals with original equipment manufacturers Peterbilt, Kenworth and Cummins to provide telematics and diagnostic tools for the companies.

Peterbilt chose PeopleNet as its Remote Diagnostics System Partner for its SmartLINQ system. The system is an integrated, factory-installed remote vehicle diagnostics system that will be standard on all Peterbilt models equipped with the Paccar MX-13 engine.
The system is designed to help fleets manage their vehicles by notifying fleet managers and dealers of the potential need for service and to provide service solutions.
“Utilizing Peterbilt's new on-board diagnostics system, SmartLINQ, remotely communicates truck health to the fleet manager, helping them plan and prioritize service and repairs at Peterbilt dealerships for maximum uptime while keeping deliveries on time." said Darrin Siver, Peterbilt general manager and Paccar vice president. "
Kenworth has selected PeopleNet to be its exclusive telematics partner for remote diagnostics as well. Kenworth will use PeopleNet’s vehicle health monitoring technology to provide automatic notifications of issues based on severity.
The system can also recommend immediate actions to prevent breakdowns or unscheduled service stops. It is being rolled out in the summer for new Kenworth Class 8 trucks powered by Paccar MX-13 engines.
Cummins is partnering with Omnitracs to make the Cummins Connected Diagnostics application available to customers who use Omnitracs Mobile Computing Platforms and the Fault Monitoring application’s Extended Faults add-on.
As part of the integration, Cummins’ Connected Diagnostics solution uses data from Omnitrac’s Fault Monitoring application and the company’s own notification report to provide nearly real-time alerts for all available engine fault codes.
The combination of the two systems is designed to quickly diagnose and prioritize engine system fault alerts. The information and guidance is then delivered to fleet maintenenace and operations management to take proactive steps toward repair.
“Cummins Connected Diagnostics enabled by Omnitracs’ Fault Monitoring application will support a proactive approach to engine maintenance and repair while enhancing the value that we deliver to our mutual customers,” said Richard Glasmann, vice president of OEM strategy, sales and marketing at Omnitracs.
PeopleNet also announced a collaboration with Cummins Connected Diagnostics for users of the PeopleNet g3 platform. The integration makes use of the integrated fault code analysis available to PeopleNet customers.
On April 1, PeopleNet customers will be able to activate the introductory version of Cummins Connected Diagnostics for companies running a mixed fleet with Cummins engines. For more information contact a PeopleNet or Cummins representative.
