Michelin has added its X One Line Energy D2 and X One XDS2 pre-mold retreads to the company’s next-generation wide-base single tire portfolio. The X One Line Energy D2 Pre-Mold is designed for to optimize fuel efficiency in the U.S. long-haul market.
Long-Haul Tire
The Michelin X One Line Energy D2 Pre-Mold retread tire is Michelin’s lowest rolling resistance heavy truck drive retread to date, the company said. Created for long-haul transportation, Michelin said it was designed to deliver industry-leading fuel savings to lower the total cost of ownership while providing exceptional traction.
“The Michelin X One Line Energy D2 Pre-Mold’s new ultra-low-rolling-resistance levels are designed to exceed [EPA] SmartWay and [California Air Resources Board] requirements,” said Pierluigi Cumo, B2B vice president of marketing for Michelin North America. “Its compact tread design, with less flexibility in the tire tread between the tread surface and tire carcass, provides better energy conservation for greater fuel efficiency.”
Michelin said the tire is designed to optimize the total cost of ownership with improved rolling resistance, mileage performance, and resistence to irregular wear for long tread life.
“With its Regenion evolving tread design, the Michelin X One Line Energy D2 Pre-Mold tire provides stability in all weather conditions, even when worn, which is critical to long-haul drivers,” Cumo said.

Winter Weather Tires
For the harsh winter season, Michelin is rolling out the Michelin X One XDS 2 Pre-Mold tire.
The company said it was designed to promote driver confidence and security in extreme winter conditions. The X One XDS Pre-Mold tire capitalizes on weight savings of the new generation wide-based tire by adding a significant traction retread offer.
“The Michelin X One XDS2 Pre-Mold offers the same snow traction as the Michelin XDS2+ Pre-Mold tire, with its potential weight savings offering 365 lbs. more payload than dual tires,” Cumo said. “This tire is designed to take on the harshest winters and get drivers and their cargo to their destination safely.”
Designed with driver confidence in mind and optimized traction for snow, Michelin said the X One XDS2 recap is specifically made to tame the Canadian winters’ cold weather environments and is available as a retread only.
