The Jevic Heat Fleet neutralizes one of the biggest barriers to effective, efficient product distribution -- freezing temperatures.
Each year, shippers of cold sensitive materials face in-transit delays and shipment diversion during sub-freezing temperatures. "Most carriers are either unwilling or unable to effectively maintain the flow of 'freezable' commodities during cold weather, especially over weekends," said Paul Karvois, president and CEO of Jevic Transportation, headquartered in Delanco, N.J.
"Jevic's specialized equipment gives our customers a decided edge when it comes to moving this freight."
For many shippers, the need for consistent service to their customers is intensified during cold weather. Once frozen, many materials lose their physical properties and their composition. It's a production and quality control nightmare. Jevic heated trailer service allows supply chain managers to maintain control of order-cycle times without tying up production, limiting order processing, or increasing costly on-hand stock.
The Heat Fleet is equipped with technologically advanced U.S. DOT/hazmat approved, oversized heaters. With between 30,000 and 60,000 BTUs on every trailer in the Heat Fleet, Jevic customers can move temperature-sensitive freight in trailers that keep shipments warm for the length of the trip.
Jevic Transportation is a wholly owned subsidiary of SCS Transportation Inc.
