Holland has announced an improved Service Alert process that will inform customers about situations that may impact their supply chain.

Coinciding with the seasonal start of its Freeze Protection Service, a new E-mail Service Alert and corresponding web page on hollandregional.com will provide detailed information about weather, natural disasters or other circumstances that may potentially impact service.

E-mail Service Alerts, available early in the day, enable shippers to better plan their transportation and inventory strategies to ensure their supply chains remain efficient. This is particularly important for companies handling products that are susceptible to freezing during the winter.

The Holland Freeze Protection Service builds on the transit speed of the largest network of next-day delivery points in the region and the operational efficiencies which ensure shipments move quickly to their destinations. Less time in transit means less time for freezing to occur, Holland says.

In addition, Holland service centers are equipped with CargoQuilt covers that provide an extra blanket of protection to drums, pallets and totes. Shipments maintain temperatures above 32-degrees Fahrenheit from pickup to delivery. "Warm rooms" are also available for use over weekends to protect freezable shipments in transit.

"Many of today's water-based products are susceptible to freezing. Once frozen, they may be unusable, even after thawing. Shipments damaged by cold temperature cause production delays, stock outs and strained customer or vendor relationships," says Holland President, Mike Naatz. "With a 99.9% percent claim-free rate for cold-sensitive shipments, our systems, equipment and procedures ensure products arrive on time and damage free."
