Fuel efficiency and hours-of-service compliance will highlight two sessions at this year's Heavy Duty Trucking eXchange. The North American Council for Freight Efficiency, a non-profit group working to double the freight efficiency of fleets, will once again be on hand at HDTX to talk about how fleets can save fuel and money by examining how they are spec'ing and running their trucks for maximum efficiency. John Seidl, vice president of risk services at Reliance Partners and a former Wisconsin State Motor Carrier Trooper and FMCSA Investigator, will also be on hand, speaking to attendees on the ins, outs and exemptions surrounding the ELD mandate.

Dave Schaller, the Industry Engagement Director for NACFE, will address attendees on Thursday, May 9, during the breakfast keynote. Schaller’s NACFE responsibilities include interfacing with fleets and suppliers, writing reports, conducting workshops, giving presentations, maintaining the group’s fleet database, and running the social media groups. Dave also worked closely with the drivers and sponsors for the Run On Less demonstration in 2017.

With more than 20 years of experience in compliance, Seidl will speak to attendees about the benefits of using the hours of service rules to help increase a fleet’s revenue, improve their driver recruitment programs, and ensure that once drivers are through the door and in the trucks, they stay there. He will also show how overall costs can be reduced by ensuring compliance of the HOS rules and the recently implemented ELD mandate within the ever-changing regulatory landscape. He will then lead a group discussion on the mandate and all the compliance factors tied into it.

Now in its third year, HDTX is a two-day program consisting of one-on-one meetings and focus groups with suppliers, roundtable discussions and sessions on critical topics, and networking and meal functions – plus attendees will get to meet HDT’s 2019 Fleet Innovators as they accept their awards and share their insights in a panel discussion moderated by HDT editors.

Editor's Note: There are still a few slots open for qualified fleet managers to attend HDTX; for more information on this hosted networking event and to apply, go to www.heavydutytruckingexchange.com. You can watch video clips of fleet managers sharing their experiences at previous editions of HDTX here.
