It reports the now discontinued diesel 6-liter V-8, manufactured by Ford's former diesel engine supplier, Navistar International, had a number of problems with the fuel system, turbochargers and other major components.
The settlement reportedly resolves many class-action lawsuits and allows owners to receive money so they can be reimbursed for post-warranty repairs to the engines. The engines are equipped with exhaust gas recirculation technology and were eventually replaced with a Ford engine in later model trucks and vans.
