The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has postponed its Trucking Safety Summit public meeting originally scheduled for March 19 in Washington, D.C.

An announcement on the agency’s website said, “We will be following changes in the impact of COVID-19 and work to schedule a new date for the summit in the near future. We are disappointed, but the safety of the attendees is of the utmost importance. We look forward to setting a new date for the Summit.”

The purpose of the summit is for the agency to receive information on improving the safe operation of motor carriers. The formal conference will provide members of the public as well as invited stakeholders, including motor carriers, truck drivers, safety technology developers, federal and state agency partners, and safety advocacy groups, “an opportunity to share their ideas on improving trucking safety.”
