FedEx Freight has expanded its service center in Jackson, Miss., and increased its capacity at five other locations.

"These investments in our infrastructure are a critical part of our business model," said Douglas G. Duncan, president and CEO, FedEx Freight. "Because FedEx Freight meets the needs of fast-cycle distribution, it's important that we have the best facilities in strategic locations."
FedEx Freight's Jackson service center, located in the town of Richland, Miss., completed an expansion project that increased existing capacity from 70 dock doors to 118 and added another 22,000 square feet to the dock.
FedEx Freight has also opened or expanded other service centers around the country recently, including:
-- Boise, Idaho - more than doubled the capacity of the previous center, increasing the number of dock doors from 22 to 53 with a move to a new facility.
-- Bangor, Maine - more than doubled its capacity with a move from a 13-door facility to a center with 33 doors and an 11,000-square-foot dock.
-- Kankakee, Ill. - moved from a 12-door facility into a newly constructed 24-door center on six acres.
-- Providence, R.I. - expanded from an existing 28-door facility into a 48-door center in the city of Cumberland that includes a 4,800square-foot maintenance shop.
-- Oklahoma City, Okla. - expanded the existing center from 86 doors to 126 and added 28,000 square feet to the dock.
