Class 8 Truck Prices Rise Again in February
The average selling price for Class 8 trucks reached just over $44,400 in February, rising for a second consecutive month and setting a high-water mark, according to ACT Research.
The average selling price for Class 8 trucks reached just over $44,400 in February, rising for a second consecutive month and setting a high-water mark, according to ACT Research.
The finding came in the research firm's "State of the Industry: U.S. Classes 3-8 Used Trucks" report. Prices are expected to cool for the remainder of the year, ranging from flat to down 5%, according to Steve Tam, vice president of the commercial vehicle sector.
"Despite the record selling prices, based on the assumption of satisfying some of the pent up demand, prices are expected to cool slightly in 2014," said Tam.
The report from ACT provides data on the average used price for the top-selling Class 8 model for each of the major truck OEMs including Freightliner (Daimler); Kenworth and Peterbilt (Paccar); International (Navistar); and Volvo and Mack (Volvo).
