Eaton has signed an agreement through 2014 with Tata Motors of Pune, India, to supply them with heavy-duty synchronized transmissions for use on its World Truck program in India as well as global markets.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Initial transmission production will take place at Eaton plants in Tczew, Poland, and Wuxi, China, with production moving to its new facility in Pune, India, as volumes increase.
Tata Motors is India's largest automobile company. Through subsidiaries and associate companies, Tata Motors has operations in the UK, South Korea, Thailand and Spain. It is also the world's fourth largest truck manufacturer and the second largest bus manufacturer. Tata cars, buses and trucks are being marketed in several countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, South East Asia and South America.
