Idaho wants to prevent drowsy driving along Interstate 15 in the southeast part of the state, and it is calling on highway engineering, law enforcement and driver education to do it.
Called the 3E program - Engineering, Enforcement and Education - the effort will enlist the help of state transportation department engineers, the Idaho State Police and the Office of Highway Safety.
As one of the first steps, the state DOT has installed rumble strips on the interstate, and plans to extend them from border to border. State Police are providing extra traffic patrols in high-crash areas.
