Diesel Cost Expected to Average $3.87 This Summer
Diesel and gasoline prices are expected be slightly less this summer than during the same time last year, according to the U.S. Energy Department’s latest Short Term Energy Outlook.
Diesel fuel prices, which averaged $3.89 per gallon last summer, April through September, are projected to average $3.87 per gallon this summer.
The department also expects that regular-grade gasoline retail prices, which averaged $3.58 per gallon last summer, will average $3.57 per gallon during the current summer season
For all of 2014 diesel is projected to average $3.85 per gallon compared to 2013’s average of $3.92 while regular grade gasoline is forecast to average $3.45 compared to last year’s average of $3.51. In 2015 diesel is expected to average $3.76 with regular grade gasoline at $3.37.
Currently the average cost of diesel is $3.959 and gasoline is at $3.596.
