Dana Spicer’s S140 single-reduction, single-drive axles are now standard on Kenworth’s medium-duty T270 and T370 trucks.
The Kenworth T270 features the Dana Spicer S17-140 rated at 16,000 pounds, while the Kenworth T370 is standard with the Dana Spicer S21-140 rated at 21,000 pounds. Dana’s S140 axles are suitable for a wide range of applications, designed with broad ratio coverage for a variety of vocations, according to the company.
High-capacity gearing allows the axles to support higher-horsepower and higher-torque engines, which may offer improved reliability and durability. The S140 also features GenTech quiet gearing to reduce noise levels compared to standard gear design and provide a smoother ride. The axles are also designed to be light weight, offering a weight savings of up to 85 pounds compared to Dana’s own P20060S axle.
