Johnson brings a 26-year record of accomplishments in creating and implementing successful marketing and communications programs within DTNA. He has extensive background managing and executing launches of a wide variety of commercial vehicles, including the all-new Western Star 49X introduced last year, the Western Star 4700, and the Freightliner Cascadia.
Before assuming the role as head of communications, Johnson led marketing communications as brand manager for Western Star Trucks.
"Andy is an experienced and respected leader within Daimler Trucks North America, and throughout the commercial vehicle industry,” said Roger Nielsen, president and CEO, DTNA. “As the industry advances into the future, the need for fast-paced, seamless communication accelerates. Andy’s boundless energy, creativity, professionalism and leadership will be an asset to both the Daimler Trucks North America team and the Daimler Global Communications team.”
In his new role, Johnson will report to both Nielsen and to Uta Leitner, head of global communications, Daimler Trucks & Buses.
Johnson replaces Andrea Corso, who separated from the company late last year after being head of communication since 2018, following communications positions at Adidas and Nike.
