Con-way Freight, a subsidiary of Con-way Inc., has been honored by two state trucking associations for exemplary safety performance, while two of the company's driver sales representatives
were recognized for individual excellence and career-long safety achievements.
At its 50th annual safety awards ceremony, the Kansas Motor Carriers Association awarded Con-way Freight-Central (CWC) the Great West Safety Award for outstanding achievement in highway safety. The company was honored in the General Commodity Common Carrier Division, representing trucking companies that run between 5,000,001 - 10,000,000 miles delivering freight during the year.
It was the second consecutive year Con-way Freight-Central won the award. It recognized the work of Con-way's more than 241 drivers in Kansas who demonstrate superior safe driving practices while providing exemplary customer service to Kansas' commercial and industrial businesses.
The Association also announced that it had named Ernie Arnote, a Con-way Freight-Central driver sales representative based in Kansas City, to the organization's Road Team for the 2006-2008 term.
In Ohio, Con-way Freight-Central driver sales representative Bruce Early was honored as Driver of the Month by the Ohio Trucking Association. Early, a 37-year veteran of the trucking industry has worked for Con-way for 22 years.
In New York, the New York State Motor Truck Association awarded CWC a Great Western Safety award for first place in the Large Class Division.
