Con-way Freight has become the latest less-than-truckload carrier to announce it is increasing rates.
It will institute a general rate hike, averaging 5.4%, applicable to non-contractual business, effective March 31.
The rate increase will apply to general LTL rates, minimum charges and accessorial or supplemental fees for special services associated with LTL shipments moving within the U.S. and Canada, as well as cross-border shipments moving between the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada.
The effect of the rate increase will vary for individual customers and shipments based on characteristics such as geography, lane, product classification, weight and dimensions, according to the Michigan-based company.
The move follows UPS Freight saying it will increase rates 4.4% on March 31 with FedEx planning a 3.9% hike the same day. ABF plans to implement a 5.4% increase on March 24.
