The Georgia Motor Truck Association and the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association have honored two of Con-way Freight's safety managers as Safety Professionals of the Year.
Cliff Fiveash was named by the Georgia Motor Truck Association for his work on behalf of the organization as well as his 17 years at Con-way. Since 2001, Fiveash has supported the safety of 400 drivers in eight service centers in implementing safe driving skills and staying compliant with the Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Environmental Protection Agency and Occupational Safety & Health Administration standards.
"This award means a great deal to me and I'm proud of the accomplishments of our drivers and the culture of safety we've built at Con-way Freight," he said. "The drivers and I work as a team to keep Georgia highways safe, and this award is a testament to our hard work and commitment."
The Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association found David Foughty worthy of its Gogolin Safety Award for Safety Professional of the Year for his service to the safety council and at Con-way. He has worked for Con-way for 22 years out of the Milton, Pa., center. The award is named after Edward Gogolin, who dedicated 40 years of his career to the importance of safety in the trucking industry.
"Recognition by PMTA wouldn't be possible without Con-way Freight's support of our work with state associations," Foughty said. "It's an honor to be recognized by your peers and to work with the extended team at Con-way to keep safety at the forefront of the issues facing the trucking industry. I'm thankful for the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Ed Gogolin."
