ACT Research released its report on October trailer orders, finding that there were 47,810 net orders placed in the month representing a significant increase over last year.
ACT Reports Trailer Orders at All-Time High in October
Trailer orders in October were up more than 90 percent year over year, according to ACT Research.

“October net orders were up more than 90 percent year over year,” said Frank Maly, director of commercial vehicle transportation analysis and research at ACT. “While high order volumes normally require large fleet support, October saw significant strength from small and medium fleets.”
Maly noted that there were also significant orders through the dealer channel and that year to date, orders were up 57%.
ACT’s report reflects a similar report by FTR, which also reported record trailer orders for October. That report indicated that October numbers were improved by many fleets starting to order for 2015 in advance.
“The list of positives for the trailer industry include insignificant cancellations, the longest BL/BLU ration of the recovery and better margins for both fleets and trailer OEMs,” said Maly. “Conditions for the industry remain a strong and solid ‘green’.”
