A new AAA Foundation study says truck drivers have the lowest rates of suspended or revoked licenses among all drivers.

Their study, "Unlicensed to Kill," reviewed the license status of drivers involved in fatal crashes, and concluded that 20% of all fatal crashes involves at least one improperly licensed driver.
The study says drivers of combination trucks have among the lowest rates of suspended or revoked licenses at 1.2% when compared to passenger car drivers at 6.7% and motorcyclists at 12.2%.
Reviewing fatal crashes from 1993-1997, the study defines "improperly licensed driver" as one with an invalid license, no known license or a driver with an unknown license status. The study report is available online at www.aaafoundation.org.
