Oregon-based Vigillo, which provides a web-based risk management platform, has released its new CSA 2010 Preview Scorecard, a tool to provide trucking companies with an advance look at their fleet safety data
that will be included in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's new Comprehensive Safety Analysis initiative.

"Vigillo is the only company that can take a motor carrier's existing safety data and show what it will look like when CSA 2010 goes into effect next year, impacting over 750,000 companies," said Steven Bryan, CEO of Vigillo. "By using the same algorithms and methodologies as FMCSA, we've created a solution that allows carriers to use data available today to get ahead of the curve and to see what their fleet will look like under CSA 2010. No one else is able to offer this capability."

CSA 2010, which should be fully implemented by December 2010, is a new compliance and inspection program created to improve large truck and bus safety and reduce crashes, injuries and fatalities. The more comprehensive enforcement and compliance model includes seven BASICs (Behavioral Analysis and Safety Improvement Categories) covering unsafe driving, fatigued driving, driver fitness, controlled substance, vehicle maintenance, improper loading and crash indicator. Planned are several built-in and automatic intervention levels ranging from early warning letters, on- and off-site investigations and safety plans to out-of-service orders.

The Scorecard uses carrier and driver data to produce the same measures as the FMCSA. Included are summary and detail reports for each BASIC, overall reports by BASIC, violations and drivers, and individual driver preview reports.

"CSA 2010 represents a significant increase in government oversight of carriers and interaction with individual drivers," Bryan said. "This is a brand new level of analysis and intervention for motor carriers. With our CSA 2010 Preview Scorecard, they can get a nine-month head start on the new safety scoring system."
