to provide a truly advanced solution for the North American van and reefer markets, the company says.

The air suspension system incorporates a high strength slider box with QwikRelease pin pull for easy slider adjustments. The CBX40 also features SwingAlign for fast and convenient axle alignment and cast beam trailing arm construction for optimal strength and weight reduction. The new SAF-Holland X Series 5 3/4-inch axle, drum brake configurations and optional Intregal-Disc brake technology, provide a new choice for today's North American marketplace.

The Intregal-Disc option offered on the CBX40 improves braking performance and efficiency while significantly lowering maintenance costs and downtime, the company said. A proprietary Bi-Metallic casting process mechanically combines the rotor and adapter-flange into a single rotor assembly. The Intregal's Bi-Metallic rotor assembly is designed to control the effects of heat. Unlike conventional disc brake technology, that often experiences uncontrolled deformation and hot spots, Intregal's rotor expands in a radial direction, under extreme braking conditions, to keep rotor surfaces flat and stable. This helps to minimize the risk of premature rotor failure, while extending brake pad and bearing life.

"The CBX40 was branded as a SAF product to align with our global branding strategy to migrate all trailer suspension systems to the SAF brand. Technology is the key to triggering a brand migration for our North American trailer suspensions. In the case of the CBX40, the new X series axle and Intregral-Disc were the drivers," noted Martin. "Over time, all trailer suspension systems will carry the SAF brand as new technology is integrated into our product portfolio."

"In spite of today's economic environment, SAF-Holland continues to make significant progress," concluded Martin. "The introduction of breakthrough systems, like the SAF CBX40, is just one way we're working to lead the industry. Our teams continue to deliver on many strategic initiatives in 2009: our new axle plant, product launches, and our impending ISO/TS 16949 certification in North America represent just a few of our most recent global achievements."
