Refuse Parts' new LowLift hoist provides for lower loading, a smaller footprint and faster loading and unloading for refuse containers.

LowLift is the hoist companion to the company's DuaLift and KwikLift hoists. LowLift has a hinged tail that serves as a loading platform. The hoist does not have to be raised to load or unload a container, according to the company. The lower loading and unloading height eliminates problems related to overhead clearance. The lower angle and height also reduce the chance that a container will jump the rails during loading.

"Safety is a common and important issue facing waste haulers today," said Dick Williams, one of the product's developers. "Our customers expect us to develop products with safety foremost in the design process. The LowLift is the latest in our series of products to do just that, addressing overhead clearance issues, operating footprint, visibility, stability and container alignment."

The LowLift was created with the same traveling carriage design as its predecessors. A single cable sheave is attached to the carriage, which travels the entire length of the hoist, powered by a seven-inch telescopic cylinder. Every foot of carriage travel develops 2 feet of cable movement, extending or retracting, causing rapid container movement.

Using the LowLift, customers can also shake loose stubborn loads by rapid container movement. The operator can use the hinge tail as a stabilizer for those heavy loads and shake the container at the same time.

The carriage is also used to power containers rearward, when offloading empty containers onto docks, or when loading pup trailers. In addition, heavy loads in short containers can be transported with the container moved all the way forward on the hoist, improving weight distribution. At the disposal site, the short heavy container is powered rearward before raising the hoist.
