FairTran, Oklahoma City, Okla., is offering a new free service that calculates rates and pricing on a per mile basis for trucking companies.


FairTran is an information-broadcasting portal devoted to truckers, owner-operators, and small trucking companies who need up-to-date information.

The new service will be available on cell phones, twitter and e-mail, so subscribers can have real-time access to rates. Fairtran gathers current costs, combines them with personalized trucking company information and calculates them against industry standards.

Using the new service, a subscriber can view the "National FairTran Value" average per mile, according to the type of haul and type of trailer. A company can also create a specific account to calculate a customized value.

"It is our hope that FairTran will bring unity, fairness, and respect back to those who do the work - the trucking companies - who, until now, haven't had a gauge and standard to point to," said Charlie Collins, FairTran president. "To survive in this industry you have to be smart. You have to know what's around the next bend, and we believe that's what FairTran does for truckers. It keeps them informed, on a daily basis, of variable prices like fuel and allows them to negotiate with shippers and brokers accordingly."
