Dennison Lubricants has started distributing Safety-Kleen's EcoPower, an environmentally friendly motor oi

. The oil is now available in the New England states.
"EcoPower extends our services to customers, such as auto dealers, service stations, public works garages and fleet management businesses, among others," said Tim Dennison, president of the company. "Having an environmentally friendly motor oil is essential as we serve our customers and demonstrate our own commitment to earth-responsible ways to use and remove commercial lubricants, including oil."
According to Dennison, the motor oil is priced similarly to standard oils and is made from recycled motor oil in Safety-Kleen's Plano, Texas, facility. Safety-Kleen has taken 225 million gallons of used oil and recycled it to make about 140 million gallons for re-use. EcoPower meets or exceeds all applicable standards set by the American Petroleum Institute and the Society of Automotive Engineers, and is currently used by many large organizations, including the U.S. military, numerous state governments and automotive fleets.
"Re-refining makes solid environmental and business sense," said Eric Zimmer, senior vice president of marketing for Safety-Kleen. "Turning used oil into high-quality lubricating products conserves a valuable resource and removes a potential pollutant from the environment, turning it back into a usable product. The process of re-refining takes up to 85 percent less energy to produce a gallon of lubricating oil from used oil that to produce the same oil from a gallon of crude. Both go through the same exacting processes of distillation and hydro treating. The end product is identical to traditional motor oils made from crude and must meet the same specifications."
