Carrier Logistics, Tarrytown, N.Y., a transportation systems consultant and software developer, will offer PC*Miler, the routing, mileage and mapping system, to its Web-based customers.
PC*Miler was previously available only to customers of CLI's installed software system, Facts. It will now be available to customers using the Internet-based service, Facts-ondemand. CLI customers who select PC*Miler Web Services will be able to add functionality such as truck-specific street-level directions and toll costs on an à la carte basis.
PC*Miler Web Services is a hardware and software interface to PC*Miler providing the ability to access the functionality associated with the core product, making it easier to share data and improve efficiency. It offers a standardized way of integrating Web-based applications using XML (Extensible Markup Language) and SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) over an Internet Protocol Backbone, all developed in Microsoft.Net.
