Cantec Systems has introduced a line of Can-Crank products, including a capacitor, jump start cart and a jump start box, to assist in engine starting.
The Cantec Can-Crank EDLC is an electric double layer capacitor. The capacitors can improve the life of vehicle batteries, starter and alternator, according to the company. In addition to its return on investment benefits, the units come with environmental benefits, as they are non-venting, non-leading and non-gassing, Cantec says.
Available in three 12-volt and three 24-volt sizes, these capacitors have more power than four group 31 batteries and can crank an engine faster than batteries, Cantec says.
Cantec also now offers the Can-Crank Cart, the portable jump start cart, powered by the capacitor. The portable jump-start cart can be easily connected to a dead vehicle with its full power jaw clamps or quick disconnect plug.
Available in a 12-volt severe duty and 24-volt severe duty models, the on-board cart AGM batteries work parallel to the capacitor to provide for a longer cranking cycle to overcome large vehicles. The severe duty cart provides power before cranking to initialize the vehicle computer or warm the intake heater/glow plugs.
The company also has debuted its Can-Crank In A Box, a service vehicle mounted capacitor jump start box, available in 12- and 24-volt models. The box operates in the same was as the severe duty cart but in a permanent installed configuration.
